Sperm Preparation

On the day when the doctor will conduct insemination or perform egg retrieval, the male partner will be scheduled to provide a semen sample for laboratory testing. However, if it’s not convenient to do so on that specific day, the male partner can collect and freeze the semen sample in advance. After receiving the semen sample, the laboratory will proceed to select viable and strong sperm that are ready to fertilize with the eggs. The laboratory will prepare the semen sample to mimic natural conditions, which will be conducted by collecting normal sperm to ensure there will be high-quality and sufficient sperm.

The laboratory will analyze and prepare the sperm using the following methods:

  • Simple Washing
  • Gradient Separation
  • Swim-Up
